Introducing the Year 7 Adviser

As Year 7 Adviser, I will support students' well-being through direct action and advocacy, working with class teachers, executive staff and external service providers to achieve good outcomes for each individual. I can assist students with uniform, lunches, equipment and subject selection. I will also facilitate sessions on anti-harassment, conflict resolution, personal development and team building. Working co-operatively with School Counsellors, Behaviour Teachers and other specialist staff, I will closely guide students with special learning and behaviour needs.

Last year, I visited primary schools to meet my new students. I am so impressed with their enthusiasm and excitement about Duval. We have a fantastic group of Year 9 Peer Leaders who are working determinedly to ensure students' smooth transition to Duval. Peer Leaders take their leadership responsibilities seriously; they will guide students through Year 7 and beyond, sharing and modelling our core school expectations of Community, Respect, Excellence, Safety and Teamwork (CREST). Late last year, we hosted Orientation Days where students met Duval staff, orientated themselves to the Duval environment and participated in a selection of lessons.

I welcome our new Year 7 students and their families to the Duval community and encourage students and parents to contact me at Duval (67721266) should they have any questions or concerns.
