SportUNE Mountain Bike Track

 

All CHS schools in the North West and surrounding regions are invited to enter their up and coming mountain bikers in this event in order to further develop their XCO racing skills while entering a friendly competition.

 

Format

11 am: Sign On

11.30: Guided lap of the course / Practice / Bike Checks/ Rider check

12.30: Race Briefing

12.40: Race Start - XCO race format

2.20: - Presentation

Categories

Years 7 and 8 – Male and Female 1 Lap (Approx. race Time 25 minutes) 

Years 9 and 10 – Male and Female 2 Laps (Approx. race Time 45 minutes)

Years 11 and 12 - Male and Female 3 - 4 laps (Approx. race time 65-90 minutes)

 

Final decision on laps will be decided on the day

Location

Racing will be at the SportUNE track in Armidale in the grounds of the University of New England. The Trail Head is located above the Tennis Courts on the right as you head down to Sport UNE.

 

Guidelines

  • All riders must have a current MTBA license or Day license and must have appropriate equipment. E.g. Bike must have working brakes, bar ends and be in good mechanical order, Australian Standards approved helmet, riding glasses and gloves are necessary equipment.
  • Riders must be supervised on the day by a teacher or parent from each school
  • All riders must complete at least one practice lap before competing
  • The event Commissaire reserves the right to remove competitors from the competition on safety and behavior grounds at any time.
  • Each rider will accumulate points for their school depending on their overall race position.
  • Each school's five fastest riders category points will count toward the overall school point score
  • The 3 schools with the highest point scores will be recognised on the podium
  • Individual category winners recognised on the podium
  • Points are awarded using the following formula:

Registering for the event

 

Register your school team/entries by filling out the attached entry form (docx 37 KB) and faxing to Armidale DoE Regional Office on 6776 4145 with attention to Peter Harris, or by returning completed/scanned entry to Peter Harris at peter.a.harris@det.nsw.edu.au. Please finalise entries no later than Friday, April 29.
