Applications for student travel 2016

From 2 November 2015, a new online SSTS application process is being introduced for schools within the Opal network, coinciding with the introduction of the School Opal card. Schools outside the Opal network should continue to process the existing blue SSTS application forms and send them to the appropriate transport operators. Most parents, guardians and students won't need to apply for a school travel pass for 2016 if they have already been given a school student travel pass for the current year. These will be automatically sent to the... Read more

There is an overview document about the RAM available on the Department of Education website. If you would like... Read more

Hello again What a fantastic school community we have. It is a lovely thing to see staff, parents and students working so well together to achieve the best possible outcomes for our kids. The respect and support shown for each other in the classroom, playground, sports field and at community meetings and events testifies to a fantastic school culture here at Duval High School. From time to time all students make mistakes and it is really great to be able to separate the student from the issue, working together with parents, carers, staff and... Read more

Guys and Dolls - A message from the Creative Team

Wow! What a journey. There is nothing like a high school musical to excite and engage a school community. The response from the students, staff and community has been overwhelming in putting this project together. It has only been through this team effort that this musical has been the success that it is. A big thank you goes to the school's Parents & Citizens Association whose generous financial and logistical support has meant that we can stage a musical as big as Guys and Dolls. We look forward to working with you again on similar projects... Read more

To all parents – New uniform items at Duval High School

Please note that the additional uniform items put forward by the P&C late in 2014 (uniform dress for girls and new polo shirts for all students) had not been officially endorsed by either the P&C or the school at the end of 2014. It was not intended that these items be introduced to the school uniform until this year, after the parents and community had an opportunity to discuss the proposals. Unfortunately, due to an error of communication the items were released for production to one supplier only, and this is an unacceptable situation. I... Read more

Year 9 Newcastle Excursion

Newcastle was a great excursion because we went to the NBN studios and got a grand tour of the studio and behind the scenes. We also went to Nobby's Point and the RAAF fighter jets put on a show just for us. At the Newcastle baths some of us went for a swim and bumped into Adrian Madaschi (defender for Newcastle Jets) and Mike Rabbitt from NBN again. The wetlands and coastal walk was interesting, learning about water quality and regeneration of areas. The ropes course was a highlight for everyone, with most of us finishing the gruelling course... Year 10 Sydney Excursion

From 2-5 December, Year 10 went on their excursion to Sydney. The excursion started with a bang ….. the bus broke down! We were stranded for over an hour just outside Willow Tree in the hot sun. A replacement bus arrived from Tamworth and we continued onto Sydney where the fun and excitement began: Pancakes on the Rocks for dinner and a ferry ride to see the city's night lights. On the first day we went to the Justice and Police Museum, where we learnt about the Pyjama Girl Mystery and got dressed up for a mock trial. We went to Cockatoo... Read more
